How to Research Target Company URLs — The Simple Guide
This guide explains what target company URL research is, why it matters, and exactly how to use each feature of this tool. Written simply so anyone — even a 10-year-old — can follow along.
1. What is a “company URL” and why do you need it?
Every company on the internet has a home address — just like your house has a street address. That home address online is called a URL (short for Uniform Resource Locator), but most people just call it a “website address” or “domain.”
For example, the URL for Apple is apple.com and for Coca-Cola it is coca-cola.com. When you type that into a browser, it takes you straight to their official website.
Why does this matter for business?
If you work in sales, marketing, or business research, you often start with a list of company names — not their website addresses. Before you can do almost anything useful (send an email, check their products, research their size, add them to a CRM), you need to find their URL first.
Doing this one company at a time by searching Google is very slow. This tool does it in bulk — paste 50 names, get 50 URLs back in seconds.
2. How to use the URL Lookup tab
The URL Lookup tab is the main feature. Here is exactly how to use it, step by step:
- Click on the URL Lookup tab at the top of the tool (it is already open by default).
- Type or paste company names into the big text box — one company per line. You can type them yourself or copy-paste a column from a spreadsheet.
- As you type a company name, autocomplete suggestions will appear in a dropdown. Click one to select it, or keep typing.
- Click “Find URLs” (or press Ctrl+Enter on your keyboard) to run the lookup.
- Results will appear in a table below showing: company name, logo, official URL, industry, and a confidence score.
- Click the copy icon next to any URL to copy it to your clipboard.
- Click “Export CSV” to download all results as a spreadsheet file.
Tips for the text box
- Type one company per line — hitting Enter goes to the next company.
- Use the common trading name (e.g. “Apple” not “Apple Inc.”) for best results.
- Abbreviations sometimes work (“HSBC”, “BMW”) but full names are more reliable.
- If a company is not found, try an alternate spelling or the full legal name.
3. How to use Geo-Search (find companies by country)
The Geo Search tab lets you find companies that operate in a specific country or region. This is useful when you want to research local competitors, find regional distributors, or build a country-specific prospect list.
How to run a geo-search:
- Click the Geo Search tab.
- Use the Country / Region dropdown to pick a country (e.g. Pakistan, UAE, Germany).
- In the second box, type a company name, industry, or keyword — for example “fintech”, “food delivery”, “Nestlé”, or “logistics”.
- Click “Search by Location” to see matching companies with their websites and country tags.
What the results show:
- Company name and logo
- Official domain / URL
- Short description of what the company does
- Country/region tag confirming the market
- Industry tags for quick filtering
- A “Visit website” link to go directly to their site
4. How to use Industry Discovery
The Discover tab is like a curated directory. Instead of looking up specific company names, you explore an entire category — and the tool shows you the top brands in that space with their URLs already attached.
Two ways to use it:
- Click a category chip — tap “SaaS”, “Fashion”, “Fintech”, “Gaming”, “AI Tools”, or any of the 18 categories to instantly see major brands.
- Type a keyword — type “clothes”, “streaming”, “electric cars”, “crypto” and the tool will map your keyword to the best matching category.
Each result card shows the company name, their official domain, a brief description of what they do, and category tags. This is great for competitive research — find out who the key players are in any market in seconds.
5. How to use the Jobs Finder
The Jobs Finder tab is designed for two groups of people:
- Job seekers: Find which companies in a specific industry and country are likely hiring for a role you want.
- Recruiters and sales teams: Identify companies that are expanding (growing companies are also good sales targets).
How to use it:
- Click the Jobs Finder tab.
- Enter a job title or keyword (e.g. “software engineer”, “marketing manager”, “data analyst”).
- Optionally select an industry (e.g. Fintech, Gaming, Health).
- Optionally select a country (e.g. UK, Pakistan, Remote).
- Click “Find Jobs” to see a list of companies likely hiring for that role.
Each job card shows the company name, the role type, location, department tag, and — most importantly — a direct link to that company’s official careers page URL. You are always directed to the source, never a third-party job board.
6. What do High, Medium, and Low confidence mean?
Every URL lookup result includes a confidence score. This tells you how sure the tool is that it found the right company website. Here is what each level means:
- High confidence — The company name matched very clearly. The domain is almost certainly correct. Safe to use without manual checking.
- Medium confidence — There was a reasonable match, but the name might be slightly ambiguous (e.g. “Bolt” could be Bolt the transport company or Bolt the SaaS company). Quickly visit the URL to confirm it is the right company.
- Low confidence — The name is very common, very short, or the tool could not find a strong match. Manually search this one before using the URL.
7. How to export results to a spreadsheet
Once your URL lookup results are on screen, you can download them as a CSV file — a simple format that opens in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Apple Numbers, or any spreadsheet app.
Steps to export:
- Run your URL lookup (see Step 2 above).
- When results appear, click the “Export CSV” button in the top-right of the results table.
- Your browser will download a file named
company-urls.csv. - Open it in Excel or Google Sheets. Each row contains: Company Name, Domain (URL), Industry, Confidence Score.
- You can then import this CSV directly into Salesforce, HubSpot, Apollo, or any CRM that accepts CSV uploads.
8. Pro tips for B2B sales and marketing teams
- Start with a clean list. Remove duplicates and blank rows from your company list before pasting. Results are more accurate when each line contains exactly one company name.
- Use the Discover tab for prospecting. If you don’t have a target list yet, browse by industry to build one. Click “Visit website” on brands that fit your ICP (Ideal Customer Profile).
- Combine with geo-search for ABM. If you run Account-Based Marketing campaigns by region, use the Geo tab to find companies in your target market first, then run them through the URL Lookup for full data.
- Use the Jobs Finder as a buying signal. Companies hiring in sales, marketing, or operations are often growing fast — and growing companies have budget to spend. Target them first.
- Export → enrich → import. Download your CSV, add extra columns (contact name, company size, ARR estimate), then import into your CRM for a fully enriched account list.
- Bookmark the tool. There’s no account required, so just save the URL and come back whenever you get a new list of target companies.
