About Target Company URL Research
We build one small thing and try to do it honestly: turn a list of company names into official website URLs. This page explains who runs the site, where the data comes from, and the things this tool deliberately does not claim to do.
What this site is
Target Company URL Research is a free browser based tool for B2B sales teams, recruiters, researchers and students. You paste a list of company names, and it returns each company’s official domain along with a name match score.
The phrase target company is a standard business term. It means any company you are researching, prospecting or planning to approach. Every sales list, every market study and every recruiting shortlist starts as a column of company names, and the website is the first thing you need before you can do anything with them.
Finding those websites one Google search at a time is slow and easy to get wrong. That is the entire problem this site exists to solve.
Where the company data comes from
Most tools in this space are vague about their sources. We would rather just tell you, because it is the only way you can judge whether a result is trustworthy.
| Feature | Data source | Live or curated |
|---|---|---|
| URL Lookup | Clearbit Autocomplete, a free public endpoint that returns a company name and its primary domain | Live |
| Match score | Calculated in your browser by comparing the name you typed with the name returned | Live |
| Careers Finder | Standard careers URL patterns built from the company domain | Constructed, not verified |
| Brand Directory | A list we maintain and check by hand | Curated |
| Companies by Country | The same curated list, filtered by headquarters country | Curated |
Two consequences worth knowing. First, the live lookup depends on a free endpoint we do not own or control, so if it goes down, the lookup stops working and the tool will say so plainly instead of pretending every company was not found. Second, the curated lists are only as current as our last review, which is stated on the tool itself.
What we do and what we deliberately do not do
Plenty of tools in this category quietly overstate what they return. We would rather be boring and correct.
What the tool does
- Turns company names into official domains
- Scores how closely the names matched
- Shows the other candidates the database returned, so you can catch the wrong company
- Cleans your list first by removing duplicates and legal suffixes
- Exports everything to CSV
- Works with no account and no card
What it does not do
- Company logos. The Clearbit Logo API closed in December 2025, so we show a favicon instead
- Industry, headcount or revenue. That endpoint does not return them, so we do not invent them
- Contact emails or phone numbers of any kind
- Live job listings. The Careers Finder only builds URL patterns
- Verify that a domain is the company you had in mind. That is your job, and we say so on the tool
How we keep the data accurate
These are the rules we hold ourselves to. If you find us breaking one, tell us and we will fix it.
Our standards
- No invented numbers. No fake user counts, no fake review scores, no made up accuracy percentages, no fabricated testimonials. If we cannot verify a figure, it does not go on the site.
- Sources are named. Every feature says where its data comes from, including when the answer is “a list we typed ourselves”.
- Limits are stated up front. Where a feature guesses, the page says it guesses, on the feature itself and not buried in a footer.
- Domains get rechecked. Companies rebrand. Notion moved from notion.so to notion.com in June 2026. When we spot a change, the curated list is corrected and the review date is updated.
- Corrections are welcome and free. Report a wrong URL and we will check it. No account needed to report anything.
Who this is for
- B2B sales and SDR teams building prospect lists before outreach.
- Recruiters who need company websites and careers pages for a shortlist.
- Market researchers and analysts mapping who operates in a category.
- Marketing and partnership teams checking a list of brands quickly.
- Students and job seekers researching employers before applying.
If you need enriched data such as company size, revenue or contact emails, we are not the right tool and we will happily say so. Our API guide covers providers that do that properly.
Who runs this site
This is a small independent project, not a funded company. That is exactly why the tool is free, why there is no account system, and why there is no sales team waiting to call you after you use it.
Privacy in one paragraph
There is no account, no login and no backend that receives your list. The company names you type go from your browser directly to the lookup endpoint, and the results are rendered on your own screen. We do not store, log or sell what you search. The full details are in our privacy policy.
Try it on your own list
Paste up to 25 company names and see how it handles them. No sign-up, no card, nothing stored.
